EMERGENCY APPEAL: MUDSLIDES IN RWANDA
The Anglican Relief and Development Fund has received an appeal for emergency funding from the Anglican Church of Rwanda to help families displaced by severe mudslides.
During the night of May 7th, landslides from heavy rains killed 54 people and destroyed more than 500 homes in northwestern Rwanda. Lives were lost, homes buried, trees uprooted, crops destroyed, roads washed out. AS of May 19th, reports indicate that at least 6,000 families remain displaced.
The Anglican Church in Rwanda is responding. In the Shiyra diocese alone, 367 families were affected. Teams are distributing relief packages of blankets, cups, plates, pans, water collection containers, mattresses or sleeping mats, dried food, and iron roofing sheets. The second wave of effort will repair and rebuild damaged homes.
How You Can Help:
Pray: Will you join us in praying for families affected by this disaster; for those who have lost loved ones, shelter and livelihood?
Give: Would you consider making a financial donation? $150 will bring relief to one family. The total need is estimated at $50,000. Donations may be directed to The Anglican Relief and Development Fund (ARDF) and will be distributed to the Dioceses directly affected. Gifts can be given online at www.ardf.org/rwandarelief2016.
